Collins Beats Odds and Wins in Landslide
In the race for Erie County (NY) Executive, Chris Collins (R) beat all the odds (5 to 3 Democratic county, Republican incumbent with horrible numbers and being outspent 2 to1) in being elected the seventh Erie County Executive.
Greener and Hook partner Michael Hook was the campaign’s chief strategist and media consultant.
Collins’ campaign promise to rid county government of politics and run it like a business echoed with voters and propelled him to crush Democrat James P. Keane in a landslide in the November election.
Collins beat Keane, 63 percent to 35 percent.

Here is a clip that appeared in the Buffalo News following Collins’ win:
“The victory capped a remarkable run for Collins, 57, who overcame several obstacles to win an improbable victory. Standing in his way were an overwhelming Democratic enrollment advantage, the failure to secure a minor party line and the perception that 2007 was a “down year” for the Republicans."
Overall, Collins won 63 percent of the vote -- in a county where 28 percent of voters are registered Republicans. He prevailed in every Erie County community except Buffalo. Even there, the Republican earned the majority of votes in two of the city's Common Council districts.”
